Vaccination Schedule for your child

The chart below shows the Vaccine schedules for your child. For your convenience, we have marked them as EPI Vaccines, alternate vaccines and Additional vaccines.

Note:

  • EPI Vaccines are vaccines given under the Government of Bangladesh’s Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) Programme.
  • EPI Vaccines are found at all Govt. healthcare facilities and also non-Govt. health facilities and private facilities with vaccination centers.
  • EPI Vaccines are available for free, while other vaccines cost money. Please consult with the vaccination center/medical facility/ your doctor to know about the price of vaccines and their doses.
  • The dose may vary in some of the vaccines listed below, as there are multiple dose schedule modalities, which are supported and followed by different factions of health care providers.

Week 1

Vaccines of EPI Schedule

1. BCG

Week 7

Vaccines of EPI Schedule

1. Pentavalent - 1st dose

2. PCV - 1st dose

3. OPV - 1st dose

4. BCG - single dose; if not given right after birth

Pentavalent Vaccine = Diptheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Haemophilus influenzae, Hepatitis B PCV = Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine OPV = Oral Polio Vaccine

Month 3

Vaccines alternative to EPI schedule*

1. Diptheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, haemophilus influenzae, hepatitis B (DTaP/IPV/HIB/Hep B) 1st dose

2.Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine 13 - 1st dose

Additional vaccines**

Oral Rotavirus - 1st dose

Comment

Only if your child did not receive any vaccines earlier.

-Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine 10 is an alternative to Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine 13 if cost is prohibitive.

Week 11

Vaccines of EPI Schedule

1. Pentavalent - 2nd dose

2. PCV - 2nd dose

3. OPV - 2nd dose

Comment

Pentavalent Vaccine = Diptheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Haemophilus influenzae, Hepatitis B PCV = Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine OPV = Oral Polio Vaccine

Week 15

Vaccines of EPI Schedule

1. Pentavalent - 3rd dose

2. PCV - 3rd dose

3. OPV - 3rd dose

Month 5

Vaccines alternative to EPI schedule*

1. Diptheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, haemophilus influenzae, hepatitis B (DTaP/IPV/HIB/Hep B) 2nd dose

2. Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine 13 - 2nd dose

Additional vaccines**

Oral Rotavirus - 2nd dose

Only if your child was not immunised as per EPI schedule.

-Third dose of rotavirus vaccine is required only if child received at lease one dose of Rotateq.

Month 7

*MMR is recommended by CDC for all children living internationally due to high prevalence of measles disease in Bangladesh.

Meningococcal vaccine is generally required for residence in college/university dorms.

* Alternative vaccines are the ones that are recommended by CDC

** Additional vaccines are also recommended by CDC. These vaccines may also be given to Bangladeshi children alongside with vaccines of the EPI schedule.
